Arm strong

Arm strong

“Personal feat and achievement” noted media
100 kilo meter long road by tribal officer in India
No fewer honors than any award for country man in the social circle
A rare and remarkable feat to help the tribal people

It is story of first tribal officer from Indian Administrative Service
Country needs such type of youths with promises
A person who has undergone hardship can only understand
The plight and sufferings of tribal people in inaccessible land

No motor road for connecting three hilly states in Eastern India
He knew it as pathetic condition for hilly areas
He was appointed as Sub Divisional Magistrate
But had many ideas to remove the suffering in State

Many Non Government Organizations were contacted
Many known friends were too brought in to be acted
Villagers were persuaded to embark upon in project
No aid was expected to come from Government sector

The fund flow was less but it started pouring
Not enough but sizable amounts was rushing
The heavy equipments were pressed into service
People too knew that this is noble work and there is no other choice

They provided man hours and officer provided impetus
He had developed bond and gained trust
The road became operation in record time
The tribal people are now availing road in all the times

It was people’s road and hence suggested as “people’s rod”
Some one suggested it as “Arm Strong Road”
He laughed it out and just smiled with satisfaction
The villagers were happy and praiseworthy for his contribution

Any country may feel proud of such officer
He might have remained comfortable with lucrative offers
Re remained committal and dedicated self to the services
Ordinary man knows his limit and realizes the meaning of happiness

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
and the sheds were all cut out;
