Arms Wide Open Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Arms Wide Open

Rating: 5.0

When you bleed
Your blood drips like tears
That you can no longer cry
Hurt, lonliness and fears

If someone comes close
You push them away
But inside you pray
That they will stay

All the lonely nights
You had no shelter
and no sleep
You tried to weep

When your best friend died
You just could not recover
or let others in
for fear of it all over again

And so one night
In absolute desperation
You found courage
and resignation

To bring an end
to your inner anger and pain
you took a razor
and slit open a vein

And when the color ran out
you felt your only release
and your heart pumped out
tears of blood and for a moment: peace

But the feeling didn't last
and others didn't understand
the insanity of it
carved with your own hand

They thought you were crazy
and in frenzy failed to see
that you were suffering
in the most severe degree

Still you tried to cry in anger
And you tried to cry of your pains
and the only one who seemed to listen
was your arm and your veins

Those arms are like battlefields
of every battle fought
Each one a scar
that desperation brought

But now this latest battle
You know deep down your losing
Innocence taken from you
Not of your choosing

Your heart is so broken
your rivers run dry
your walls all broken
Its time now to cry

Turn to the one you love
and cry on his shoulder
for fear if you don't
Life will grow even colder

Its is time for your wounds
To finally close
and open up to the love
That's nearby under your nose

You're a beautiful girl
With so much to give
Its finally time
To heal and to live

For the love you were missing
resides aready inside
waiting only for you
To open your arms wide

To embrace the world
Which has brought you hurt
and broken your spirit
and made you feel like dirt

And I for one am with you
Each step of the way
to remind you your something
not to be kept away

For you I wrote this poem
You know who you are
In my deepest hopes
I know you'll go far

Becasue you have not a father
You've somehow found one
Who cares about you
like his own daughter or son

And if you should fail
There is no shame
because I know you'll do your best
Its not you to blame

But if you triumph
You'll feel so happy inside
and will help others hurting
with your arms open wide

God bless you little darling!
