Around The Eyes Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Around The Eyes

Around the eyes
- - - - - - - - - - -
Sometimes
Around the eyes
Sometimes
Around the mouth
You shrivel
And flex muscles
And I feel lost in between
Failing to discern the genuine
As come closer I
You blow a fleck
Of smiles upon me
And I catch them on my lips
Like a little beam of sunshine
And store them the heart within
For tomorrow may be cloudy
And sun may not shine
That on such a face lovely
Comes smile but momentarily
And after shimmering a while
Retires into solitude silently
Like a frightened spark
Unable to withstand a breeze meek
And I grasp not
Upon the clusters of such limpness
What feelings this smile brings
Love, pride, happiness
Contempt or embarrassment………

Some smiles are so very precious.... appearing only rarely! Trap them at the moment, they may not be there tomorrow! But their memory can lighten our dark moments! Great write Deepak!
