Arrival Of Truth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Arrival Of Truth

Demanding with enthusiasm,
For the comfort of a normalcy wished.
Lived as if entitled,
A kept defiance against a virus...
Will permit this selfish thoughtlessness.
Is not how truth to live it,
In the midst of a pandemic to expect.
And for those more accustomed,
To live doing whatever they choose...
As they please to feed,
Their precious yet unnecessary...
Wants and impulsive needs.
Are the ones these days awakening shocked.
That all roads to their fed delusions,
Have not temporarily...
But from them permanently blocked.
With a finding another way,
To open their minds and eyes even wider.
Like never before to welcome the truth.
Coming through their doors.
Whether or not to like,
The permanence of its stay.
Regardless who refuses...
How to them truth uninvited comes!
Or the way it is done,
Making futile attempts to ignore it.

"Whew.
You sure took a long time,
Answering the door.
Look at my knuckles.
Swollen and sore.
But...
Enough about me.
Move. Geeessshhh.
You're in my way!

As you can see,
No luggage or baggage do I carry.
So...
Let's get down to business.

My stay,
Should be made easy for the both of us.

Now...
I will be all over your place.
However...
Eventually you will discover,
Once I am in...
There is no out.
You'll get over it.
I know...
At first,
I'm hard to take.
Giving you the gift of time.

And lies to tell with denial to deceive?
Nope.
Going...going...gone!
I don't tolerate that action either.
Get it to know it quick.
I'm not here to explore your nonsense.
Or...
Your futile attempts to ignore me!

And...
By the way,
Get rid of your pretentiousness.
And that offended appalling look,
On your face.
Nothing does it do for you.
Together we'll work on your makeover.
Trust me.
Seriously.
Take my word for it."
