As I Lay Down To Rest Poem by Mark Chavez

As I Lay Down To Rest

As i lay down with this frown

I wait

For the sheets to get pulled over

For the book to be read

It is my final thoughts before i lay my head

They are these precious moments

The ones that can never be repalced

They remind you

That you must take wut you can get

When daylight fades

I think about the promise of a better day to come

But wut if i dont wake

Then the day will never come

As i lay my head to bed

I think

Of how i spoke my last words

Of how my last impression was

Of how i imapcted her life

Was it a waste?

I hope not this cud be my last thought

My last goodnight

My last tonite

As i lay my head to bed

I think

Did i do wut i promised

Then i close my eyez

My last thought:

Will they ever open again

I hope so because my impact could be greater

If not i am satisfied

I lived my life well

Without any regrets i lived it well

I close my eyez in wonder

Will i live another day

Will breathe another breath

Will i speak another word

Or will i stay silent

Will i stop breathing

Will i die

And never open my eyez again!

Never hear another story

Never get tucked in?

Will i die tonite!

This is a ponderous soul and one who shall never find happiness until he ponders no more. GW62

I really like this poem. Random death in our sleep isn't something that we think about very often, but it is truly a possiblity. It's good that you think about your life and make sure you are living it to the best of your abilities. ~Lacey~

no, Mark, you won't die tonite, not if ytou keep writing about it and thinking about it. And you will hear other stories, get tucked in with other poems roaming in your head.
