Asleep With You Poem by Donald Paul Richardson

Asleep With You

Rating: 3.0

Asleep with You

Since you left
Even my hand aches from loneliness
I'd surrender worlds to feel again
Your fingers entwined in mine
I'd offer up the best years of my life
To fall asleep curled around you
My lips pressed gently
Against your sleeping neck
Arms wrapped around you
Fingers still refusing
To part hand from hand
And the true magic when
I pull back slightly
To give you room to rest
But still asleep
You push back against me
Even in dreams
Refusing to be apart from me
For even a moment.
