At Five Am

Rating: 5.0

In the morning at five AM, I drive through the mountains on my journey home. I walk outside and breathe in the smell of fresh rain that has fallen the night before; so delicious that you just want to drink it in.

The stars in my pathway scattered across the sky. The big dipper acting as my personal light, guiding me safely on my way. As I cross the covered bridge, I hear the water rushing like a great wind forcing its way across the rocks. Spotting the deer in my pathway munching on the grass that lies like a soft green quilt covering the early morning dew.

At five am everything becomes magical, the glowing eyes of many shapes and sizes peeking at you, as your headlights shine through their souls.

At five AM the noise of the city coming at me, the lights of many cars traveling on opposite sides of the road, as I become closer to my destination, The magic of the early morning disappears into this mad dash of progress as this new day begins.

I think to myself, I can’t wait for the next time to make my journey down the mountain again at five AM.
