At Sunset Poem by HAFID CHAHIDI

At Sunset

Rating: 5.0

The waves g o by without waiting
As the seconds of this life that keep going
Faster than anyone can imagine.

The glare of the sun forms the far horizon:
This is the sole moment of a deep contemplation…

Many faces are passing by along the lane;
Seem in a moment so familiar,
But it is just my imagination.

The shining sun is going
down
in a blaze of flame
To shine in another faraway place.

The twilight is the moment of bidding
farewells
To a day that is about to leave,
To a moment that will not come
again.

The far horizon becomes so dark…
The bluish ocean becomes invisible.

The roars of the waves w a n e,
The birds retreat to their shelter.

I’ll do the same,
I’ll just go for a w a l k
this night, solitarily
down the lane
again…

What a wonderful landscape you have brought alive in this lovely poem. Thanks for sharing the same, Hafid. Let me quote a few lines: The shining sun is going / down / in a blaze of flame / To shine in another faraway place.
