At The Dawn Poem by Anusha Sharma

At The Dawn

At the dawn of the day
The thought came calling
I said, ”Hi”,
She said, “Indeed”,
She came and sat at the corner of the room
Ignoring me
‘Why now’, I wondered
There was a time when she would be with me ‘always’
She won’t let me be alone
She was there when she was not needed
She was there when she was needed
She was there when I tried to look around
She won’t let me
I kept ignoring her
She won’t let me
And then one day she disappeard
I smiled
But then I was left with no occupation as well
She was the one who reminded me of what had happened
Though it was all sorrow
I had become used to
I missed her
I tried to find her
And then one day I stopped looking for her
Days went by
Still from time to time I would think of her
And then she was there
Sitting quietly in the corner of my house
Afraid to speak up
Will she ever?
What she didn’t want to tell, I knew already
I guessed sitting quietly in the corner of my house
She was also mourning the loss....
