Attuned Souls Poem by Gautam Sen

Attuned Souls

I was in search of a company
capable of complying my need -
a shade of support for my lone soul.
Friends were quite busy in vocation,
'Don't loose all your initiatives' -
I said to myself. Search I still kept on.

Frantically I explored for long,
long enough to get myself tired;
my rummage direly called for rest.
Then found a creek through a forest -
a flowing hint for my target.
Weary feet over fallen leaves
caused a strange melody to muse.
I followed the flow of the stream,
hoped for a golden prospect of
meeting some friend somewhere inside.

A tanned tree with sculpted branches
without its foliage stood erect
as plausible companion.
Splashes of stream just saying 'hello! '
to its bystander friend - the tree
could neither join the friendly flow
nor stop this vibrant rivulet.
Felt that I should stop a while
beneath the rusty forsaken tree,
its skinny branches with no birds
to sing on, heaved a sigh of shame
'Who're you bard equally lone? '
a cordial call of welcome for me,
at last I found my quest in tree.
It had its time to share with me.
