Autumn Poem by Christopher McKay

Autumn

The wind stirs the leaves of the tree
Old branches cast their shadows on the ground.
Beneath the sunlight where they stand tall
To be known, to be found.
The sunlight engraves its rays on to the leaves,
A breath of summer breezes by so profound.
Calling beneath the mid-days sun
As she towers high above the ground.
I look up in question and see
Her transmuting leaves so sound.
But soon they will rain from above
Around the corner, autumn is bound.
But till then I sit in shade,
Protected from the summer sun.
Summers breath whispers to me,
'Autumn has now begun'.
