Awaiting The Day Poem by Susan M Kelly

Awaiting The Day

The darkness creeps in like the lioness on her prey
I lie awake waiting for the night to turn into day
How quiet it all sounds, when there is no one else around
Only a breath and heartbeat can be found

The shadows on the wall swallow the light
Darkness reaches up and engulfs the night
On the clock the minutes tick over
Oh how I wish the night was over

The light appears between the blinds
My heart beats faster, day has overcome the night
Welcome light come hurry please
Expel my stress and bring me ease
