In the morning when I awake,
To the sound of birds by the lake.
As I lay there looking up,
Peace seems to fill me like a cup.
“Wake, wake! ” the birds chirp and cry!
Then, a radiant light fills the sky.
“Wake, wake to the new day! ” they trill.
I hear the laughter of children, and my heart fills,
For there is a joyous, chuckling laugh, I’ll hear no more,
No playful calling, no slam of the door.
No muddy shoes that track the floor.
I try not to cry, but tears fill my core.
Do you suppose heaven has frogs he can catch?
If he tears his clothes, is there someone there who can patch?
When I see him again, will he look the same?
Will he still collect marbles and love to play games?
Yet in the morning when I awake,
To the sound of birds by the lake,
As I lay there looking up,
Somehow, peace seems to fill me like a cup.
A poignant tribute to a little boy who is happy, well taken care of, and waiting for you. Extraordinary, Mary. Love, Sandra
This one is precious. more like this are recommended. Your rhyme is great. the flow is perfect. I think you may be on to something with this one. Great Job.
I think that there is a greater peace for those that have moved on, a special place where love and light are ever-present Love duncan X
Through such heartbreaking, devastating times there is great solace in faith. May there be everything there for him that you wish. Lovely, heartrending words from start to finish that echo your lost one's innocence. xx jim
