Awakening Poem by Jean Renwick

Awakening

Rating: 4.5

We went for a stroll, you and I
Under the blue, through the green.
The sun was only low in the sky
All the freshness of the morning to be seen.
Two would-be lovers wandering the path of expectancy.

We came to rest in a café, you and I
Settling our nerves with animation.
Glances electric, connecting, as the world went by
Now, relaxed, no need for communication.
Two would-be lovers drinking the silence of understanding.

We viewed artwork in a museum, you and I
Afraid to be close, every touch sparking fire.
Unable to stay apart, though we may try
The air was charged, like waiting on a pyre.
Two would-be lovers seeking and learning each other.

We ended the day loath to retreat, you and I
Stars above, a magical cocoon.
Your kiss so sweet it made me cry
Our embrace, prelude to a powerful tune.
Two would-be lovers, one silhouette against the moonlight.
