Away Poem by Dustin Newman

Away

What is missed? But arms embraced.
Light breath upon ones neck.
Soft, smooth touch. Set to soothe.
Whispers of devotion. Things to come.
Love felt seemingly indissolvable.
Deeper than any creature may dive.
Or distance set to span.
To last until both our souls pass from our lips.
Never to lose my way to your arms.
Though....
Once grasped firm.
Once kept tight.
Close to one's heart.
Now far removed.
Sun's rays carry with the joys of the past.
Sinking low into the horizon.
The warmth of summer's gaze slowly burns away.
Dragging love asunder.
Will you touch me at dawn's break.
Will you kiss me on spring's breeze.
For if your love has faded, So shall mine be.
Carry on with creek's waters. Pausing only to reflect
upon your face. Though time breaks memories hold.
Threatening to dry up. Leaving me with nothing more
than one sound.
Your name upon my lips.
