Babe’s Chicken Dinner House Poem by Marilyn Lott

Babe’s Chicken Dinner House

I have always loved chicken houses
And have since I was a kid
Sometimes when I was in trouble
It was one place in which I hid

The gentle cluck cluck of the hens
As they squawked around the pen
Laying their eggs most every day
Oh how I loved those brown hens

But there is the other side of the story
After taking off the feathers and all
Chunks of chicken fried up so crisp
After those chickens took a fall

There are many wonderful restaurants
To find a delicious chicken meal
But I’ll tell you about one we found
This place was really a steal

“Welcome to Babe’s, ” the sign said
Oh, such a delicious scent in the air
Was just heavenly, my dear friend
Suddenly we didn’t have a care

So if you have a history with chickens
Or even if you only ate them for dinner
Take the time of enjoy like we did and vote
Babe’s Chicken Dinner House the winner!
