Joji Varghese Kuncheria
Back to School
The sun hasn't shown up this day,
Dark clouds loom over the eastern sky,
Ready to burst out any moment,
Into a torrential rain often devastating.
So typical a monsoon morning,
Children in uniform seen all around,
Awaiting eagerly for school bus,
After the long so called summer break.
Unfortunate it has now been over a year,
That the pandemic has the schools shut,
The children forced to be confined home,
And fed up with the online classes.
Some found themselves merry though,
Having no computers or smart phones,
Or access to good network connectivity,
Gathering around the community centre.
But the children are all back today,
Showing off their umbrellas and rain coats,
Waiting there to be picked for school,
For the much awaited reopening.
