Ball Tampering

Last heard,
29 March,2018,
wasn't even tape pressed into dirt;
was shop sandpaper,
presumably,
or by premeditation,
from Australia brought,
or from Capetown bought
and the seller phoned the station.

To tamper in chess:
a slippery cushion
provided by the host;
burnt inter-games toast.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

This incident is on all the news media in NZ right now. Sure it is cheating, but does it matter all that much? I don't think it will affect the result of the match.

Nevertheless, it was seen as an attempt to cheat unfortunately and caused some heads to roll.
