Be Thankful If You Never Fall In Love Poem by Alyssa Siebers

Be Thankful If You Never Fall In Love

I believe sometimes it's better to have not loved than love at all,
Such terrible things can happen when you're in a relationship- Ones that end however.
Ones that go past levels of infatuation.
Ones that transpire you're life with another,
I think after such an event you just lose sight of everything,
The world around you goes blurry, confusion sets in, then the feelings-
The feelings that never go away,
If they do however, then you should not be reading this,
This isn't for the infatuated guest, these are for the wide eyed souls.
Afterwards, I think it totally ruins your sense of right and wrong,
You may look for a boy who's just the same,
You may not look for years,
You may just push everything away,
You may lose it all,
I rather have not fallen in love,
Still have the whole world in front of me to discover,
I was too young for this,
Too young to be in such a relationship,
I played the part of a winner,
and came out as a fool,
I want to so badly, to have the enjoyment I had before,
Maybe it was growing up, seeing past their faces, knowing true intentions,
Maybe it's life's cruel way of telling you that you have to reach rock bottom before you hit the high skies,
Which I have yet to hit.
Whatever it is, I'm at a standby, not knowing which way to go,
I'm lazy though, too lazy to make a move,
To lazy to feel, to wish, to cry, to smile,
Not lazy however, to tell, to share, and relate.
I'm calling you all,
Some of you know how it feels.
Those who don't,
Play the fool,
You'll come out a winner.
