Beings Born To Bear And Break Poem by alan brown

Beings Born To Bear And Break

The earth was shattered by an eerie sound
as the storms covered the land
Had man being born to bear and break his back
as he toiled the soil at hand

For many years the plough broke the land
as seeds were laid to rest
To feed the families of man
as this is what he knew best

But days have stretched into many years
and the land is of no use
As man destroyed the fragile soil
because of over use.

Today we eat synthetic food
and chemicals abound
And color everything we make
with dyes that we have found

So lets not take the last we have
and scatter it as dust
For the delicate earth had put herself
in us with all her trust
