Belated Clarity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Belated Clarity

Delayed and belated clarity.
Is still clarity to have.
Regardless of when it comes.
To open eyes, ears and minds when done.
Although for some,
Overwhelming can be reality...
Delusions to replace and face them.
When comprehending to value patience to give,
Understanding to avoid.
To think of listening as a task.
And has nothing to do,
With achieving wisdom produced.
Not too many are born to have that,
From birth.
Without life to experience.
And growing from an ignorance.
To acknowledge this first.
But not wishing to remain to stay that way,
To flaunt and proclaim...
'Being down to Earth',
Gives one an excuse...
To be as ignorant as possible.
For attention to get.
And their insecurities to thrive.
Deny or disguise for what they are.
To perceive them to be kept hidden.
But blatant they are to see.
Hear and to know.
By those who knew them.
But left them behind to let them go.
