Big Boy Blue Pajamas Poem by John W. McEwers

Big Boy Blue Pajamas

He's a big boy now, I know
Learning his twos and birds and threes
Knowing things the big boys know
Giggling at girls and climbing trees
And he's a real man now, I know
With his fancy little shoes
That he dances with excitedly
While he tries to sing and coo
And I can see him in those
Blue
Those blue
Pajamas that I bought
When his mother brought him home
To the room that I had wrought
And I can see him eating oatmeal
In the high-chair that I made
When his mother fixed us breakfast
And we ate it from a plane
And he's been dancing in
Pajamas throwing oatmeal
In my dreams
Since his mother humped a lawyer
And wanted money more than me.
