Birthday Party At Five Poem by RIC BASTASA

Birthday Party At Five

he was five
when a party was tendered
for his birthday
and he received a brown coat
from his eldest sister

so many things happened
she grew old and he left
away
for greener pastures, but always, always

the brown coat he carries with him
kept its scent

that smell of pure love
of generosity still undeserved.
