Blessed New Life Poem by Edwina Reizer

Blessed New Life

Take care of your babies
my mama always said.
Take care of your babies.
Bring them to your bed.
Nourish and nurture them
with warm milk from thy breast.
Sing to them and cradle them
and softly as they rest
you'll feel a special closeness
with their body pressed
into these precious moments
that cannot be surpassed.
They pass away too quickly.
They pass away too fast.
These are the times you won't forget.
These are the times that remain.
So listen to your mama
and sing them a sweet refrain.
Let warm sustenance fill their need
and feel your own heart swell.
This transference of love will affect you
in every living cell.
