Blind Faith Poem by Sven Rhoads

Blind Faith

You follow without knowing where the trail leads
Never questioning the powers that be
You give up your soul for a gated community
Why have you left your face with no eyes to see

Damnation befalls the ones who will not obey
Preach peace and love unless they have their own way
You've got a halo reserved but is it worth the price
To pray on your knees and succumb to their vice

There's got to be another way to reach eternity
After all the struggles that time has put me through
I have my own tongue so you dont speak for me
I'm not blinded with faith, I just do what I do

You ask for forgiveness and repeat your crimes
Never learning from these transgressions
You absolve yourself and think you are most divine
Why cant you mean the words that you say

Feed the fire that burns to keep you alive
Instead of the one that denies paradise
You've got your wings but your too close to the sun
If Icarus has taught us anything, karmas already won
