Bodhi Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

Bodhi

Rating: 5.0

If any body told you-
'dont think by sitting under the 'Bodhi' tree-
you will become a buddha'
dont feel ridiculed by what they say-
it could also be true.

Even when Gautama went and sat under the bodhi
he nver had a purpose.
Siddarth became Gautama for a purpose
Gautama became Buddha not with a purpose
it just happened.

A very defeated Gautama-
after a very long seclusion in himalayas-
where his meditation did not take him anywhere
when Gautama almost started thinking of becoming Siddharth again
it happened.

Gautama who by then knew only meditation sat under the bodhi
Gautama sat under the bodhi not with a purpose
he did not want to conquer death-
he did not want to conquer suffering
he just gave himself up to become 'Buddha'

So if anybody ridicules you about trying to become 'Buddha' -dont bother
they could have probably meant that-
even if you dont sit under the bodhi tree
you could become a 'Buddha'
Gautama buddha would definitely say so.

I think he gave himself up to pure love, with no intention and no further desire than that. That is the only thing makes a bit of sense to me..(smile)

I became mesimerized years ago when I wrote my poem 'Come Sit Under the Banyan'..actually experiencing the Bodhi, , , understanding out of respect God changed his name......as in my poem...the thought that Alexander The Great kept his entire army under one Banyan for the night///

'All those who go to church or not saints' Gautam became Buddha because he was driven to discover himself and the true meaning of his existence on earth...to discover the intricacies of life and death.....unless we are driven so passionately we cannot become what we aspire.....A great write! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Oh yeah, merely by sitting beneath a bodhi, one cannot attain Bodhi. Be aware and stay in mindful may conquer suffering. wonderful poem, need continuation though.... 10++++++
