Bonds Of Love

“Had a bad dream son? ” the mother asked
“Yes mother”, answered the boy wiping his tears
He saw a monster that ate his mother; left him nothing except pieces of her heart in flesh
“He was tall, ugly and very scary Mother”, said the terrified child
“Don’t worry son, your Mother is right here”. This she replied
“I will never leave your side”, she said
The boy was calm and happy again

The night grew darker, a storm rushed into their house
It took away the boy’s mother, leaving him lonely and roused
He wailed and howled
Thinking to himself – ‘But she had vowed’

As dawn rose, the boy sat there counting the pieces of her heart
One, two, three – as all were apart
He looked up at the bright sky
And said “Her heart was heavier than mine
The monster should have taken it; I should have saved her in time”

Looking down on him from heaven
She said – “My child, I am safe here. There, you will be too”
He cut himself and said “I will only be safe with you”
