Born Into Violence* Poem by The4amPoet ....

Born Into Violence*

</>Born into violence
alcohol and hate
bullied and abused
on a council estate
Called the police
at age of three
as my mother was beaten
she pleaded with me
To climb to phone
make a call of distress
the carpet is bloodied
and her face is a mess
She tries to stand up
but shes hurt and shes weak
battered by a drunk
who uses anger to speak
Then in divorce
we think we are safe
but she turns to drink
and soon takes his place
Windows nailed shut
and locks on the door
tied up door handles
for what..im not sure
Then came a taxi
to take us away
mum doesnt want us
and with dad we will stay
Then came a beating
for my bro and step mum
im all on my own
and my time has come
Purple and black
i cant sit for a week
lies for the judges
i dont get to speak
A judgement comes through
the punishment was fair
a stranger returns me
does anybody care
And it makes me feel sad
no mum and no dad
Foster Parents and kids homes
are all that i had
Then came the lies
the crimes and the drugs
dealers and junkies
criminals and thugs
And down at the bottom
life aint worth living
Giros and Vouchers
discount trips to a prison
Looking back on my life
i dont know how i made it through
and i wouldnt change a single thing
for the chance that id lose you

Powerful stuff. Not sure that I enjoyed the content, but I applaud the sentiment. If any or all of this is true, you did well to worm yourself out of the other end. I like the 'take me for what I am' openness that runs through your poetry. Keep writing :)

You've come to poetry the hard way.
