Bottle Poem by David Thomas

Bottle

Rating: 2.7

You ruin my life
you drive me from sanity's edge,
that age long hair-thin line
that i've always managed to stay afoot on-
you conquer my loved ones,
my emotions, and my sociality
you ruin the good things i have going,
when i'm happy
you make me sad
without so much as even one sip,
no i'll never taste you in my life-
when i'm on the fence
you make the wind blow me
to the ungreener side
and then you make the bulldog
burrowing his last body of the day
barrel over into my knees,
so weak from holding these shoulders
on which my tiny little world sits-
you, dear bottle,
you ruin people
you ruin lives
you ruin everything
i fear you will be my demise.
