Break Me Again

Tears are still dropping down to the floor
Emotions are thrashing themselves against the walls and doors
Thoughts are trying to somehow sink through the gaps if there are any visible
Love is gliding slowly away from your heart, beginning to come raw
Every step away hurts even more
Can you see the dagger slicing through this heart, or is it invisible!

He forced those tears to push through your strength
And those emotions to run past your length
He concealed those gaps with his love
But then drained it back out when you wouldn’t do what he wanted, shove…

Now, you stumble and fall down
Into and endless pit with no sound
You can’t hear the comfort in people’s voices
Just your thoughts and stupid choices…

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Young Love lies sleeping
In May-time of the year,
Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
White doves come building there:
