Brett's Final Ride Poem by Dorothy Good

Brett's Final Ride

Brett’s Final Ride

God gave you, Brett, a life so short
A journey laced with pain
You lived your life with all your heart
Now Heaven is your gain.

Your face wore radiance with a grin
You treasured little things,
You conquered many challenges
Stood tall where shadows cling.

Your ride was almost over
When you rode on down the lane,
Your beating heart was counted
And your breath was rent in twain.

Oh, yes…your ride was over
And you stepped on yonder shore,
Your heart forever mended
When you rode through Heaven’s door.

You loved the wind that took your breath
You loved the great outdoors,
You loved to fish the mountain streams
The greatest catch was yours.

We loved you, Brett, our precious one
Oh, how we all will miss you,
Your life, a special gift from God
A heartbeat forever true.

No time for one last quick embrace
No time for last goodbyes
You rode into the sunset
When you took your final ride.
