When Life Was Finger-Lickin' Good Poem by Dorothy Good

When Life Was Finger-Lickin' Good

It was in an old-time flivver
Over-looking long brown hillsides,
Where the wind was blowin’ everything around,
We could still remember good times,
We forgot about the bad times
As we rolled along the highway
Eatin’ muffins in the sub! Chorus

Cho: With them halleluiahs ringin’
All the children, shoutin’, singin’
Give me another whole wheat muffin
For you love us, this we know! ! ! !
When life was finger-lickin’ good
No health nuts in our neighborhood,
Eatin’ fried potatoes, greasy chicken on the ground!

I reckon everyone of us
Could call back or remember
When the taste and smell of cholesterol was around,
And reckon in our own way
All of us has done some payin,
For eatin’ sausage and not listenin’
To ole Parson Jan! ! ! Chorus

It was at an old-time meetin’
With some old-time family preachin’
That I vowed that I would walk the world around! ! !
I can still remember feelin’
All that happiness inside me,
When I called on my children,
And laid cholesterol down. Chorus
