Darkness surrounds
The light fades
Can this be
What I thought was peace
Is my new hell

It feels cold now
this bitting wind
tears into my skin
what once gave me warmth
now only bings the cold fingers
brushing on along my soul

what once gave me comfort
now gives me agony
My wings
once so strong
now lie broken

you once gave me
a reason to fly
but now
the weight of loss
keeps me land bound

This pain inside
seeks to escape
pain within only subdued
by pain from outside

do not fear my scars
they are my mark of shame
do not fear me
for I am broken
