Broken - Poem by Tammy Ashton

I am broken

Broken beyond repair

along this struggle
that is life

Over time

I have master
the illusion

of happiness
and hope

patchwork of lies

delicate bandage

Rips apart

by the sharp
jagged edges
of my past

exposing wounds

too painful
to touch

they grow
and fester

I shatter
like a mirror thrown
