Broken Poem by R B Seals

Broken

O' to realize what would be,
The event that became the key
That locked away her heart
Keeping her closed and apart—
Afraid love never again to start.
Welled inside: melancholy tears,
Anxieties that fuel the fears;
A will frozen that won't engage.

Sequestered, shrinking in cage,
Her trust wounded, guarded.
Spirit neutralized, non-started,
Sullen, propped in weary stance.
Gone: hope for second chance,
Motivation for new romance.
Epilogue: confidence battered;
Falls her dream—shattered!
