Broken And Contrite Poem by AnaKay Rhoden

Broken And Contrite

Rating: 2.7

Lack of hope, desperation
causes defeat, demise
Sense of confusion overtakes
a mind filled with utter lies
Trapped, no, blinded by fear and guilt
The waters of Babylon rising high
daring souls to sink
On the left hand, on the right
in the front and in the back
hell's entire army
sends demons to attack
A host, seemingly susceptible
Maybe this soul will fall
but while on bended knees
the soul utters an unnerving call
Warning lights go on upstairs
Obey them and you will survive
Missed the exit completely
Clouded head, barely alive
Jesus, can you hear me?
A distant voice came from the dark
The answer came back, but no receptors
A stray from the old landmark
Wandering around the vicinity of the promised land
so near, yet so far
Bowing to idols made by human hand
cries, remembering miracles of the past
with raised hands stretched to heaven
asking to be freed at last
Broken and contrite
Returning to the first love
Shackles break and fall off
Anointed oil pours from above
The essence, the newness of life
pleases and overwhelms
water of life flows inward
from the eternal well
the host of hell is angry
but Jesus still redeems
as joyous tears
replaces peer un-seen
