Bruce Is Hurt Poem by Juan Olivarez

Bruce Is Hurt

Bruce is hurt today,
He got stung by something bad.
My leg is hurting, he seems to say,
Can't put it down, I feel so sad.

Rolled up an aspirin, in a slice of cheese,
He took his medicine without complaint.
And he begged me daddy please,
Rub me with alcohol to ease the pain.

Some wandering scorpion, or spider mayhap,
Has taken his boundless energy away.
All he wants to do is take a nap,
And dream the pain gently away.

It's now morning and he walks again,
His energy still is'nt back,
He's feeling better, but still in pain,
But he's still on the right track.

Brucie i'm here, and will always be,
Your'e the one thats always there.
I'll give you the love you give to me,
I'll give you tender, loving, care.

Getting better hour by hour,
He's eating all his dog chow now.
He's happy now no longer sour,
Can't keep him down, no way, no how.
