Butterfly's Prayer Poem by Larxene (Larxy) Addesso

Butterfly's Prayer

Rating: 3.5

The butterfly is a flying flower, the flower a tethered butterfly.
~Ponce Denis Écouchard Lebrun

Locked in my cocoon,
not sure what to expect.
An anxiety deep in my heart,
a fear of what is next.
I feel the change within me,
more fervent everyday.
I know I will see freedom soon,
But until then I wait.
Darkness clouds the sun,
in which I once did live.
How I miss its light
the comfort it did give.
I could count on it always,
never failing my waiting heart,
rising so beautifully,
making everyday a good start.
Now in my cocoon,
I’m changing in every way.
But I trust the God above,
I’ll be Free someday.

One day I wake up
I see a blinding light
but now its more beautiful
b'cuz i now take flight.
I'm no longer an earthworm
small ugly and thin
now i'm a Butterfly
and there's joy now within.
Time in my cocoon
payed off quite well
but there's no time to think
I've broken out of my shell!
A butterfly's prayer is never ignored
even if you're hurting
one day you will SOAR!
