By The Lake Poem by Tumisang Ramarea

By The Lake

How beautiful would it be
To have a home in a place
Where I can experience such
Serene mornings by the lake

The birds are singing, the
Waves on the lake are calm,
And the sun - as early as it is-
Is nice and is warm

Of course this is an illusion
I have been here in the winter
And I know how things change
How sweet can turn to bitter

The birds go silent, the trees
Get covered in snow, the lake
Freezes, and warmth can only
Be wished for. So bye the Lake!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was adapted from a journal entry I made while I basked in the sun on the lake front of Lake Tahoe in August 2019. While the poem was indeed about the birds singing and the warmth of the sun, it was also a reflection on a friendship I have had over summer. A beautiful friendship with shared memories, and as the seasons of Tahoe can change from summer to winter, will it change from exciting to dead?

nice ending with the pun " bye the lake! " . I do wish you had added a hint of the changing friendship or an introduction of that part of the poem's meaning towards the end like a cliffhanger. I say this because I do not get the feelings of love except for the love of nature unless that is what you intended. :)
