Bye-Bye Fortuna California. Hello Pickens South Carolina....[ Bri & Wife Moved From C A To S C,9 Months Ago; Weather; Wildlife; Plants ]

Rating: 5.0

Today my 'heart was heavy', & my sweat was flowing.
'Twas near 80 degrees F, nearly no wind was blowing.
In Fortuna now, 'temps' are 15-20 degrees more cool.
If not following my mate, I'd stay in CA; I'm not a fool.

{ Or, ...am I? ? ]

Fortuna CA had poisin 'oak' but none was on our lot.
Now in SC I try to recall each & every poisin 'ivy' spot.
Each home's had a few lizards and snakes which I like.
Here I've seen a turtle, with home on back, out for a hike.

We've some pesky mosquitoes, ... & flies (up my nose) fly,
We've bothersome 'bees' [not 'honey', I know not why].
We live 'in a woods', no lawn, but TOO many tree leaves.
The ONE snow our first winter I shoveled 'in shirt sleaves'.

Yes! It just snowed once, ...but NEVER did at our last home..
AND... SC has tornadoes! One,10 miles from us, did roam.
At times here the wind is fierce, toppling even very big trees.
So far we've only 'lost' branches. I beg weather god: 'please,

....let no trees fall on us or our driveway or our big house,
as some trees could flatten me, like I've flattened a mouse!
But in SC I've not heard of wildfires. In California we did, sure!
Dealing with bad weather, as with illness, there IS NOT.....
always a cure.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Well, maybe NOT shirtsleaves. I really am not sure.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Moving… while moving houses were an arduous task (not really for me, but for by dear wife for she ‘made' home) . And we moved eighteen houses (I worked with a bank and frequent transfers Was the norm) . But after we settled in every new home, we start to enjoy the place.

A lovely poem that gives a good account of your South Carolina house.

OOPS! I misspelled poison. It IS 'poison', not poisin, right? ? ?

Good poem, Bri. Enjoyed reading. The tinge of humour in your writing style makes it more interesting. Top score from me.

Part 3. Chennai city has three climatic variations: Hot, Hotter and the Hottest. While, Delhi has all the four seasons.. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, clearly pronounced. I lived in all these places and enjoyed the life. Though detested the hardships of moving places

If i HAD TO CHOOSE ONE, I'd choose 'Hot'.

Part 2. Though India may not be as big as the US geographically, we have wide variance of climate. In my native Kerala, we have monsoons for about 6 months and rains beyond that. In the nearby Chennai, there is hardly any, but when it rains the city gets flooded.
