Just read a poem,
read line by line.
seemed more like a story,
with no reason or rhyme.
chaotic and clumsy,
is how they all read.
Read just a verse,
I'm sure you'll agree.
I don't feel like thinking,
I feel a bit ho-hum.
I'll slap together phrases,
and call it a poem.
Mmmm i write like how you have described! but i like your poem! genius!
You have here a very well constrructed poem, my friend. Excellent rhyme and meter.I personally prefer poems with rhyme and meter, but realizing that is not a requirement, I also appreciate all other types as well. In fact I sometimes write without them myself. It just depends on what it takes to make the point that the poet wants to make. I have read many 'poems' that did not appeal to me at all, just as I'm quite sure mine do not appeal to everyone. However, to me, poetry is more in the mind of the one who writes it, than in the understanding of the one who reads it. Consequently, I would never say a poem is not poetic, for it very likely is to the author. That being said, I really do like your poem. Best wishes to you, Rico. Richard (Shameless plug) I have a poem titled 'Poetry'. I would be honored if you'd take a look at it when time permits.

Definition: Poetry is an imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound, and rhythmic language choices so as to evoke an emotional response. Poetry has been known to employ meter and rhyme, but this is by no means necessary. Poetry is an ancient form that has gone through numerous and drastic reinvention over time. The very nature of poetry as an authentic and individual mode of expression makes it nearly impossible to define.: 0))))
