Cameras Everywhere Poem by D.N. Rebb

Cameras Everywhere

Yes, I know you're watching me
There are cameras everywhere
I no longer feel I have any privacy
Don't worry, I know they're there
I try to always act happy
As I think you want me to
Even when I feel crappy
I always think it through
Recordings of my life in judgement
Not wanting to screw-up any blurred plan
Showing how I really feel is redundant
As my honesty is measured less then
For whom I perform, I still don't know
What purpose this has, no one has shared
Once completed, for whom is this shown?
Inform me if I need to be prepared
So, I just keep on smiling, and trying my best
As I know there are cameras everywhere
This is all just a bit for me to digest
A hint, perhaps, of what should I beware
Are you wanting to catch me doing some wrong?
Will there be a reward once I've passed
Will you keep me updated all along?
There's no need to have it further broadcast
Share with me the intent of this act
As I can feel the insanity creeping up
Are you waiting for my mind to crack?
A self-inflicted swing of the club
Oh, you keep me at bay, that's for sure
I try not to show you my weak side
A wonder you leave me to endure
Down a slow paranoia slide
But, I'd rather continue living free
Every moment without a care
Yes, I know you're watching me
I see the cameras everywhere
