'' Can And Does Bemuse '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Can And Does Bemuse ''

The power of speech,
Is a gift to behold,
Though in most people's reach,
Does it do what it's told?

Freedom to voice,
Is a poison chalice,
Express your own choice,
Some view as malice.

You are not the master,
Of all that you say,
You're an inch from disaster,
If others hold sway.

Though it is free,
You can't say what you please,
You may not agree,
But words hold many keys.

Everything you spout,
Can be misconstrued,
If you let it all out,
You may well be booed.

To think before talking,
Is prudent and wise,
Those words your unlocking,
Some may well despise.

Though meaning no harm,
You may cause offence,
If it rings an alarm,
Try not to commence.

To please all who hear,
Is a very big ask,
Though we can be austere,
It's an impossible task.

If you do your best,
You'll still be afraid,
What you've expressed,
Others will invade.

Be you man or woman,
We have different views,
The intelligent human,
