Change Is In The Wind Poem by Geody Harman

Change Is In The Wind

What do you see in the world around you, as the day unfurls?

The working woman, the working man, the playful boy or girl!

What of the aged or those who hurt, the woman and the man?

What of the lost in heart or soul who stumble as they try to stand!

What would the Lord our Savior do as he walked on past the show?

He'd render aid, a helping hand, He'd share his heart and go!

What will you do in the changes of Life, will you fly in the winds of fate?

Will you stop to lift a burdened soul, to the safety of God's own gate?

Where will you find a better chance to help out the souls on the earth?

Calamity of the winds of change, send their famines, and earthquakes and dearth!

Change is on the winds of life and it's blowing at your door,

You can hear it howling past your home, beckoning for even more!

Equality in choices made, for men and women too,

An equal chance to do some good, is calling out to you!

What do you do when the feather falls and the leaves adorn the ground?

Do you lift a burdened soul to joy, do you share a hopeful sound?

Do you offer your couch to the passerby, who's lost his way in life?

Do you offer a meal to a starving child, who's never seen ought but strife?

A choice to change is in your hands, a choice to stand or run,

A choice to fight for freedoms right, a choice in your hand to be done.

So say a kneeling prayer this day and choose now to honor your God.

Serve the battered burdened souls, and walk the path that Jesus Trod!

I promise you this, your life will improve, your joys will be filled to the brim!

The winds of change will fill your sails, as you worship only him.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written to a friend of mine who is involved in charity work. Right after making a serious change in my life. Last night I went with one of my sons, the second eldest, to a Political Party caucus meeting seeking to change (at least in some small part) the way in which we are governed. To set an example of what to do for all of my children! I have made many mistakes in my own life which has caused me much suffering pain of soul and grief of heart. I hope to pass to my children a different legacy of how to make the right kinds of changes in our society. To be the one to take a stand and do what is right amid the whirlwind of those who are taking advantage of their fellow beings. I hope that this poem inspires generations of people to change their courses in life and help those around them.
