Change Of Heart Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Change Of Heart

Rating: 5.0

“Did I this to rule vast empire”?
The Great Emperor Ashoka* mind was on fire
How could this be allowed?
After destruct and loss of lives that followed

It was famous Kalinga* war
Fought for to be called emperor
The enemy was annihilated
The army was routed

The sky was filled pain misery
The curse was heard openly
He had now time to ponder
What was cause behind such mad adventure?

No, no, the peace should be the main objective
This is not the reason to be offensive
Subdue the people and rule the vast land
Everyone needs peace and rules to be governed

He decided to turn sage
To rewrite his name on golden page
Sent her daughter to far Asian countries
To spread the love and religion with messages

If such great emperor can have change at heart!
We need to understand and follow that art
If not more then, at least in our attitude for tolerance
Peace is needed with its real essence

*Ashoka…… name
*Kalinga… Place
