Chatter Box (Is It As Sly As A Fox?) Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Chatter Box (Is It As Sly As A Fox?)

Rating: 5.0

Mother,
What is a chatter box?
Is it as sly as a fox?
Is it the same as a jack in the box?
Can it jump?
Can it run?
What does a chatter box do for fun?
The reason I am asking is, Grandma said,
Chatter box, chatter box,
Go to bed!
I looked around but I didn't see
Anyone there but grandma and me.
Could a chatter box be grandma's
Invisible friend?
If not, where was he when she tucked me in?

What a cute little poem. I too was a chatterbox when I was a child but my grandmother called me Ladybug. I never knew why but I loved hearing it. '10' Warm Wishes, Marilyn
