Chemical Reaction Poem by Tessa Roods

Chemical Reaction

Blind strides, a push from inside
soles wore down, pay no mind
eyes down, shut out all sound
chill in the air; don't care
move forward, move steady.

Warning! ; tornado sky
look up; find safety.

Eyes open; I saw straight into you.

The wind blew our hair around
our feet remained firm on the ground
never breaking eye contact
until the storm finally died down;
so we collected our things.

I understand why you let go of me
because life for you happens without me
Perhaps in the next life, you might see
that I walked away because I love you more than me.
