Child Abuse Poem by Soha Zidan

Child Abuse

Rating: 5.0

It's CHILD ABUSE I'm screaming out loud!
The cry in the night when there's no one out
Kids don't speak it because of the fright
But they cry it alone throughout the night

I can't forget that skinny boy I saw the other day
carrying a huge rock and did that the whole day
He had to do a living to feed his brood
and can't give it up to be called so rude

His hands were bleeding and his feet were swollen
And even his black shoes were as angry as his look
His eyes carried tears that would fill a brook
It screamed 'I NEED A TOY, A SLEEP AND SOME COOK! '

No one had mercy.. not even his brood
Everyone was thinking of nothing but food
The poor boy was breathing without a life
He was walking and speaking but cut with a knife

There has to be something done, I told myself.
I can't just see that and move on without help.
I approached the skinny boy and gave him some money
He took them and looked at me saying that's too many
But what shocked me was his words, 'I don't need any'
He sat down and explained how help would be great
if only it would save him from his dreadful fate

I stared at him speechless with nothing to say
thinking how helpless I am with no other way
but giving some money or a meal of a day

I am weaker than you my little boy
I am also helpless since I can't offer you joy
I can't solve your problem or find a way
to get you out of this miserable day
I have to admit it and sadly say
'I'm sorry my boy; I'm helpless till this day! '

I don't understand why some children can't lead a life full of joy and happiness. Why do innocent children suffer from such cruelty? Why on earth are there people out there who ruin a child's life just because of their personal problems? It's unfair... Anyways, a beautiful poem you have written for it describes the harsh life of an abused child and that other beings - who lead a so-called 'normal' life - can hardly do anything to give them what they truly want/need. The message was indeed wonderful and I myself enjoyed reading it. Thank you!

And the theft of childhood. What a wonderfully expressed poem this is. Tom Billsborough

It is truly heartbreaking, Tom. A problem with no solution! Thanks for your kind comment.
