Christmas Poem by James Espinosa Sr.

Christmas

CHRISTMAS

I’m trying hard to understand, what it is that I should do
To break the chains that bind me, that keep me far from you

I’m lost in the illusions, that my soul have come to claim
In the doubts and the confusion, that I can’t even name

I’m stranded on my island, it’s so very far from home
In the glitter that surrounds me, I feel so all alone

I’m looking hard to find you, for with you I long to be
Believing as I once did, that you came to be with me

I’m grateful for the moment, it’s the one thing that is real
That the hallowed ghost of fleeting time, has not yet come to steal

Please touch me with your holy grace, please help me come to see
That the only truth worth living, is the love you have for me

As I stand before your stable, I’m begging again to see
That to save me from my mortal self, with me you’ve deigned to be
