Christmas Eve Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Christmas Eve

Darling,
Did you recheck the gift list
Who did we miss?
Slippers for dad
A sweater for mom
Darling,
Did you set the alarm
To help Santa? ...
I just heard the children
Scamper...Well, now,
A bike for big brother
A doll for little sis,
Who have we missed?
Darling,
What about Aunt Emma,
She said no more hankies,
Or plastic flowers in picture frames,
Did you remember to get
Little brother's favorite game?
Darling,
Don't forget there are cookies
To bake,
The ones with the candy center
and
Your special carmel cake...
Did you put the angel on top
Of the tree?
I only have two hands dear,
Not three.
Love you Darling,
I love you too!
I'll be glad when this day is...
Over!
Merry Christmas, Darling!
Love you...Merry Christmas,
Love you too.
